Jonathan Williams, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Nantes Augt. 7. 1782.

I thank you my dear Friend for your Favour of 3 Augt. I need not answer the part relating to Mrs. Williams desired presence at St. Germain because she is already brought to bed of a Girl. The Child is living but is very small and Weak owing to untimely Birth. Mrs. Williams is very low but I trust not dangerous.

The passage money to America is wholy the Captains Perquisite and were I to propose any other Conditions than what they all agree to require, it would be construed into an attempt to take from them their due. I do not think however that young Wright need pay a 25 Guinea Passage, he might rub through a little hard fare, and save his money; it does a young man no harm. I will order some Tea to be sent you from L’Orient. The departure of the post leaves me only time to assure you that I am ever yours affectionately

J Williams
