Richard Bache to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Philadelphia Novr. 24th. 1781.
Dear Temple

I must beg of you to interest yourself in the Business the inclosed Letter relates to, & to serve my Friend Shee as effectually as possible; Mr. Deane has certainly used him very indifferently. I hope it may be in your power to put this matter upon a proper footing—We have received no late Letters from you, but we have heard that you were all well at Passy in August—I have procured the three Boxes of Seeds you wrote for & have shiped one of them on board the Brig Betsy, which will sail in a few days for Nantes, the other two will be shiped as opportunities presents; Mr. Bartram charges five Guineas per Box, the amount I shall charge to your Grandfather’s account, so, you may settle it with him,—Mr. Bartram has sent a Box, rather smaller than the one for you, which I have put on board the same Vessel, as a present to my Father, they are both directed to le Doctor Franklin at Passy to the care of the American Agent at the Port they may arrive at As the Vessel they are on board of is strong & new & a remarkable fast Sailor, I trust she will arrive safe—I am with great affection Dear Temple Yours

R Bache
