Sarah John Jay to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)

Mrs. Jay’s compliments to Mr. Franklin & will be obliged to him if he will favor her by purchasing a pr. of paste buckles for a young lady, & a pr. of pinchback shoe & knee buckles & sleeve buttons for her little son who is between 6 and 7 years of age; & deliver them to Major Franks’s care. The price of the pastebuckles not to exceed three guineas.

Mr. Franklin will excuse this liberty since his own polite offers & gentele taste have provok’d it, & Mr. Jay’s extreme business at present prevented the request being made through him. Please to present Mrs. Jay’s most respectful compts. & best wishes to his Excellency Doctr. Franklin. Wednesday Eveng. 3d. Octbre.

Mr. Wm. Franklin.
