According to the order of the Batavian Society of Experimental Philosophy at Rotterdam, I have the honour to send you herewith as a present the 9t Volume of the Transactions, together with a new plan of the Laws of the Society, with desire that you will have the kindness to hand the other exemplar to the American Society at Philadelphia.

The Batavian Society shall continue to send to you and to the above mentioned American Society the following Volumes, when they are printed, and likewise if you want some of the former volumes, we shall with pleasure procure them to you. It would be very agreable to the Batavian Society to be fovoured with the Transactions of the American Society, of which we posses only the first volume from 1769 till 1771. Occasionaly we shall be happy [to] get an answer from you on this article. Out of the neme of the Directors I have the honour to subscribe myself with one regard.
