B. Lockyer to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Paris. March 3d. 1780—
Dr sir

After returning you thanks for your polite recommendation to the School, I am to inform You that I could neither find Mr. Bancroft or Mr. Fowler at Passy: I consequently proceeded to Paris where informing my self of Circumstances, I came to a Determination of having my Children sent into the Country to be Educated, somewhere near the Sea Coast. The Expense will be less, and they will have no Opportunity of contracting the Parisian customs, which I am by no means Enamourd with. I hope these circumstances, consider’d, will plead an Excuse for what may appear a Flexibility in my disposition. I am with Respect Dr sir Your Most Obedt. & very Huble servt.

B Lockyer

Addressed: W: T: Franklin Esqr. / Passy
