Liege July 25th 1780
Sir

I hope you will excuse me for troubling you But necessity obliges me. I would be much obliged to you to send of this letter when ever you find it Convenient. I have received a letter from Maryland But I can not find out by which way it came. Our Countrymen are in highest spirits. We have just had dispatches from the english of the taking of fort Saint Jhon in America from the Spaniards. They surrenderd upon very honerable Conditions. I shall mention of the articles they marched out with Coulors flying and Drums beating, carrying a ball in there mouth. They have received Dis from Cornwallis, who is in South Carrolina       further in? successes, we are to have them in the next? english paper. I will write them to you with the greatest [ ] if you desire it, it is no troublesome to me. I would be much oblidged to you to inform me if you have received any letters from you(r)? and if you want to know the dispatches, You must excuse the writing on account of the pen.
