Dear Sir

As I am extreamely unwilling to trouble your Grand Father on Business, at this time—I must take the Liberty of requesting the favour of you to Send me a Letter to the Marquis de Castries acquinting him that I have it in orders from Congress to Seale the account of the Prize money arising from the Cruise made by Commodore Paul Jones, and to receive the proportion belonging to the American Seamen, You will also be Kind enough to Send me any papers relative to the transaction that you think necessary. As the Marquis de Castries presides at the Marine depart[i?]ment, Where probably I Shall have occasion to apply some times, I will be obliged to you if you will Inform him that I am Just entering into my office, and that I Shall hope for his Countenance and protection in the Execution of it, I Shall be glad of the favour of a line to let me know how your Grand father is to Day and have the Honour to be respectfully Sir your very obedt Servant
