From John Jeffries (unpublished)
London Margaret Street Cavendish Square 1. June, 1786

Dr. Jeffries’s very respectful compliments to his Excellency Dr. Franklin, with renewed acknowledgments for the friendly and polite attention afforded him at Paris.

Encouraged by that condescension he now does himself the honour to present his Excellency a more perfect copy of his Aerial Narrative, than the Manuscript copy he transmitted him before.

Dr. Jeffries likewise takes the liberty to accompany it with a proof impression, of the historical Portrait of himself, alluding to a critical period of his Aerial Voyage from England into France, which he hopes will not meet his Excellency’s disapprobation.

His Excellency Dr. Franklin &c &c &c
