William Temple Franklin to Sarah Bache (unpublished)
Passy Sept 14. 1781
My dear Madam,

I have now before me your Favours of the 26 Dec 1780 and 22 June 81. M. le Veillard whom I recommended to you in mine of the 19 Feb. has been taken on board the Marqs. de la Fayette and is but just return’d from England. His Friends do not choose to risk him again. The Bust of my Grandfather, after lying so long at L’Orient, was put on board that Ship and has suffered the same fate. At the Peace I will send you another.

Your kind Promise of attending to my wishes relative to the Squirrel Skins, is very obliging, and I beg you would accept my thankful acknowledgements.

I have wrote this day to Mr. Nesbitt at L’Orient to request he would send you, by each of the Vessels now in that Port bound for Philada. Six Pounds of the finest Hyson Tea; and I doubt but that you will receive some with this.

It gives me great Pleasure to hear of Miss Duffields Felicity. She will I am confident make a very good Wife as well as a very amiable one.

Receive my thanks for the Songs made for the Oratorial Entertainment. They gave me much pleasure, but your lively Description of the management of Scenes much more.

Remember me affectionately to you dear Children and believe me, tho in haste,

Your affece Nephew
