Sir

With the greatest Submission and respect I take the liberty to address and Congratulate your Excellency on the happy conclusion of a Peace and Tranquility to the States of the united Provinces of America, attended with my fervent Prayers to the Allmighty for their Prosperity.

I have the honour to serve his Most Christian Majesty by a Patent from his said Majesty’s Consul General in Lisbon and my endeavours have ever been to prove my zeal in the Service of that Nation; my ambition aspiring to have the additional honour and Serving his said Majesty’s good Allies the united States of America, makes me take the liberty to beg your Excellency’s protection and recommendation to the Minister or Agent of the united states, at Lisbon to conferr on me the honour of Deputy Consul for the united states, in this Province of Algarve, and permit me to assure your Excellency that my zeal and endeavours shall allways be exerted in the Service of the united states and to prove my gratitude for your Excellencys favour being with profound respect Sir your Excellencys Most Obedient and most humble Servant
