Respected Sir
Respected Sir
Yesterday by Mr. Cutler I received your Favor of 14th Inst. with the enclosed List of a number of philosophical Societies in Europe, and a Duplicate or Copy of the same taken off in a new and curious manner, which was peculiarly gratifying to me. So short and accurate a Method of taking Copies from Originals I have never heard of.
I thank you also for the 2d Vol. of the Transactions of the Amer. Phil. Society at Philadelphia. When the Connect Society will be able to send forth a Volume is uncertain. Should we wait for this before we ask the Communications of the European Academies of Sciences, I fear we should for some time loose the Pleasure and Improvement in Science which their annual Production would produce. We wish for 15 or 20 Volumes yearly from these Societies to animate and instruct us, that we may also learn how ourselves to contribute to the grand Thesaurus of the Republic of Letters. But your Advice must be followed because founded in perfect Acquaintance with these Matters. With great Gratitude for your Present, and wishing you every Blessing in this and the World of eternal Light, I am, Dear sir, Your most obliged Friend and humble Servant
