Jonathan Williams, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
My dear Billy.

The Doctor kindly gave me a Commission sometime since for Captain Boardman but as it arrived too late it has been ever since laying in my Desk. I now return it & request you will destroy the Bond I gave for it.—

The present is to request you will send me a Commn for Capt James Byrne a very deserving young man who is about to command a Vessel for Mr Zollikoffer, I inclose the Bond ready signed & by that you will see how to fill up the Commn. If the Doctor has no Blanks, pray will it not do to alter Boardmans Commission on properly certifying the alteration? I request your kindness in this Business as I wish to oblige both Mr Byrne & Mr Zollikoffer.—

I am dear Billy ever Yours

J Williams J

I do not write to the Doctor as I wish to trouble him as little as possible my dutifull & affectionate Respects to him.
