We have rec’d the other day your very obliging letter of the 9. Currt. acknowledging receipt of our two former ones & acquaintg. us that your Grand father’s Eight Cases Claret had arrived Safe, at Roüen—the quality will undoubtedly please his Excellency & we Shall be always Extreme happy to receive his & your Commands to Bordeaux in that or in any other way—We are thankfull for your Punctuality in ordering your Banker to pay the amount £es. 960.—.— on % to Tourton & Ravel—

There is à Small Schooner Just arriv’d in our river from Charleston, So. Carolinâ with à Cargo of Rice, She brings no News, otherwise rely we Sho’d Communicate the Same to you—We have, dear Sir, à favor to request of you, which is to be So obliging as to inform us whethr. Baÿonne is to be appointed by french Government one of the free Ports for Americans, the Earliest Intelligence of this matter is so Essentially neccessary to Know, that from the Encouragement Just given us by our most p’ticular friends Messrs. Willing, Morris & Swanwick of Philada.—We are resolved on Establishing à house there for the Purpose; Excuse this freedom, & the oftner you favór us with yr. Commands, the more you’ll oblige— Dr. Sir, Your assured hble Servts.
