From John Nicholson (unpublished)
Philada. Septr. 7th. 1788.
Sir,

I take the liberty to lay before you a plan for removing the present embarrassments occasioned by the depreciation of the paper money. If it should meet your Approbation, so far as to subscribe thereto I have no doubt but the importance and influence of your name would insure it success, And as you will have about £2500 of your salary due at the Treasury Which could not now be paid otherwise than in paper I have thought it not improbable you would be pleased to subscribe some part thereof. I have the honor to be with high respect your Excellency’s Most Obedient very humble servant.

Jno. Nicholson.
