Jonathan Williams, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
St Germain Nov 1. 1779 8 oClock
my dear Billy.—

I am this moment stepping into my Chair when my poor Horse came into my mind to leave him in a strange Country without a Friend would be cruel I therefore reccommend him to you pray let him be kept & pay for his keeping. For about a fortnight if neither Bancroft nor de Chaumont will take him but at the end of that time let him go to any Body at any Price or to the Dl rather than eat more than he is worth

Adieu
