This Indenture made the Twenty Seventh Day of February in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Wardes and Robert Ralston, all of the City of Philadelphia in the State of Pennsylvania, Merchants of the one part and the Honorable Benjamin Franklin of the same place Esquire of the other part Whereas Mathew Clarkson George Hughes Peter Baynton Richard Bache and David Lenox Esquires Commissioners appointed in a Commission of Bankruptcy issued against Joseph ? of the City of Philadelphia Merchant under the Hand of his Excellency Benjamin Franklin Esqurie, President of the Supreme Executive Council and the Great Seal of the State of Pennsylvania, did upon due proofs taken before them find and declare the said Joseph Dean a Bankrupt whereby all his Estate Debts and Effects became vested in the said Commissioners for the benefit of his Creditors. And whereas a sufficient number of Creditors as by the Law required did not attend for the purpose of choosing one or more discreet person or persons as Assignees of all the Estate of the said Bankrupt both real and personal, the Major part of the Commissioners aforesaid by virtue of the Powers to them given by an Act, entitled “An Act for the Regulation of Bankruptcy and the Supplement thereto and the Commission aforesaid, and for and in Consideration of the Sum of Five Shillings a piece to them in hand paid by the said John Wharton Jeremiah Warder and Robert Ralston, did by Indenture bearing Date the Second Day of November, in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Seven, Order Grant Bargain Sell Assign Transfer and Sat over (as much as in them lay and they lawfully might)
