Jonathan Williams, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Nantes Jan. 17. 1782.
My dear Billy

The inclosed Letter from Mr Limozin speaks of two Americans confined in Prison in Havre. I do not understand the affair therefore can say nothing about the Justice or injustice of it, but as Mr Limozin mentions his having sent a full acct of the Matter to the Doctor, and as Capt McNeill in his Letter says the Doctor does not know the Cause of their Confinement, I apprehend there is some mistake, which you perhaps can set right. I therefore send both the Letters.—Pray let Mumford get me some Paper for my press (a Ream of each size) Mr Grand will take care to send it.

Desire him also to call on Mr Gregson for my Watch which I sent to be repaired— I am Yours affecty

Jona Williams J
