Passy, April 12th. 1785.
Dear Sir,

Mr. de Chaumont, Son of my Landlord, who goes to America on some Business of his Father’s, will have the Honor of delivering this Line to you. He is a young Gentleman of excellent Character, and the Family have been Friends of America from the Beginning of our Dispute. I take the Liberty, therefore, of recommending him, earnestly, to your Civilities and Counsels. With sincere and great Esteem, I have the Honor to be, &c.
