Dear Sirs

I received your Favour of August last, and communicated the Contents to Mr. John Vaughan. Inclos’d I send the Answer he made, offering to pay the Money if I would draw on you for it. I did not chuse to do that, as it was not conformable to your Directions. If it is equal to you, it will be as convenient to me, that it should be paid, with any future Dividends, into the Hands of my old Banker Messrs Smith, Wright and Grey.

I never think of the Loss of our Friend, (whose Memory I shall always respect) without being much affected with the unhappy Event. He was a worthy Character, and well merited all you say of him. You give me Pleasure in informing me that his Family is sufficiently provided for. With great Esteem, I am, Sir, Your most obedient Servant
