Dear Brother

I sincerely thank you for your valuable Present of the Books, which are the more so for haveing in it your Profile Done more to your Likenes than any I have heartofore seen. My Daughter and I sat down to study the Alphabet Imagining we should soon Larn it so as to write you in that way, as the leters being formd in Italics I sopose you meen to have the writing and Printing as near alike as Posable and it must be a more Acute Pen than mine that can Imitate it, I however could Read it Perfectly, Prety soon, as I wrote it every word the third Day in my own way; but to Learn the Pronunceation it will be neseary to have a master to see the Example. I am glad you have beter hopes of the soap but Prehaps you have been too Precipitate in spreding it as you found it begin to unite it might have been more sure to have continued some time longer in the same situation and it would have been a good way to have Piled it some times togather acrose Each other as masons Lay there Bricks that Prevents Its warping, I have some more Redy to send by the first Vesel that goes and then shall writ to my Grandson. I thank you for Imploying Him, writing he apears to me to be well Qualified for, and with your Premition he may in the mean time Learn many Valeuable things by being near you and makeing Observations; and I beg my Dear Brother you will as far as you can without Interfering with your other Affairs Inspect his conduct, his Dispos[it]ion, and his capasety, and Reprove, Advise, and direct him, in what you see to be most Proper for him; which if he does not observe he need not Expect Prosperity any way. he is to be shure of Destitute of friends capeble of Asisting him almost as any won, I hope he will do well my Love to him.
