Passy. 19 Feb. 1781
Dear Sir,

Mr: de Chaumont having press’d me much I accepted his generous offer of taking a share, in a commercial operation, in which he had engaged his Children and one or two Friends & for which he was to make the necessary advances. I was put down in the Contract for an Interest of 25,000 l.t. the whole amount of all our shares was to be laid out here in marchandise & sent to America on several Bottoms to your address. The Profits arising from the Sale of sd. Marchandise, after deducting the first Cost, were to be devided according to the amount of our several shares, & each person was at Liberty to order his Returns in the manner he thought best.—

This is therefore to request you would send me as soon as possible, in Loan Office or other Bills of Exchange on Paris payable at an early Date the whole amount of my share the Profits on Sale above mentioned.—

Mr: Le Veillard does me the favr. to take Charge of this. He is so well recommended to you that I need not say any thing in his Favr. were I to undertake it I could not say too much.— With great & sincere Esteem I am Dear Sir &ca—
