William Temple Franklin to George Fox (unpublished)
Passy 10th Jany. 1781

I wrote you some time past, my dear Friend, inclosing the patterns & instructions you desired. You have never informed me whether that Letter ever got to you, & I am afraid it did not, as I have long been deprived of your agreable Letters; which arises I imagine, from my seeming neglect to answer them. I confess myself guilty with regard to yours of Oct. 31. 80 (which I rec’d. the Day after I wrote you) but a great deal of Business & the daily Expectation of hearing again from you, made me defer writing from time to time. I do not recollect being remiss with Regard to any other. I hope therefore you will pardon me and continue to let me know now and then how you go on: The Progress you make in the French &ca. &ca.

I flatter myself your Friendship for me did not cease with your Writing: If I am mistaken, permit me to sollicit the renewal of both.

We have lately had several Arrivals from America. No letters have come here for you, or they should have been immediately forwarded.

The only News we have from that Quarter, is contained in the enclosed paper. I do not pretend to give it you as authentic: but I think it has some appearance of Truth.

Count D’Estaing is arrived, & in Paris.

The Americans now here are Messieurs Deane, Foulke, Maye, & Andrews. Adieu my dear Friend. I have no occasion to add in Haste, my Letter sufficiently shows it.

Yours most affectionately

W.T. Franklin
