Samuel Petrie to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Rue Ste. Anne. Paris.— Wednesday Night March 15.
Dear Sir.

I Sent this After Noon to Mr. Lee’s Appartments in the Rue des Bons Enfans, & was inform’d that he had left them Some Days.—I Shall be obliged to you to inform me by the Bearer, if you know whether he is in Paris or not, & that you will favour me with his Address, if a Letter can reach him, here or elsewhere, before he embarks.—Is Bancroft return’d?—If he is not, & he can either deliver, or convey a Letter to Mr. Lee, tell me where & how I can direct to him, & I shall be much obliged to you.

I expect General Bieter, Monsieur Ventades who has been many Years Resident from Spain in England, & a few more respectable friends, to dine with me on Saturday. I hope you will make one of the Company.—If it was not asking too great a favour, I wou’d Say more. If the good Doctor, your grandfather is not engage’d for that Day, prevail on him to allow you to inform me by the Bearer, that I may likewise expect the honour of his Company to dinner, & you will confer an obligation, which I Shall be happy in an opportunity to return. I shall consider your success in this Commission, a proof of your persuasive Powers; & beg you will believe me upon all Occasions Sincerely & faithfully Yrs.

S. Petrie.
