I had this morning the Pleasure of receiving your obliging Letter of the 15 Inst. mentioning the arrival of your worthy Grandfather at Pha. The news of that agreeable Event reached me on Saturday last, and I then wrote a few lines to congratulate him on the occasion. The manner of his Reception must give Pleasure to all his Friends; and he must derive great Satisfaction from enjoying at Home that Honor and Gratitude, which Prophets do not always find in their own Country.
The Packet sailed yesterday, so that your Letter came too late for that Conveyance
Tell my friend your Grandfather, that I would much rather receive a visit than a Letter from him. I fear his Disorder will not admit of the former, and I will readily excuse the latter until he shall enjoy more Leisure than will probably fall to his Lott for some Time yet. Were I not confined by the Duties of my office I should with Pleasure and without Delay slip away to Pha. and take him by the Hand. Mrs. Jay desires me to make her Compts. to him and to You. We shall be happy to see you here—\ I am Dr. Sir your affe. & obt. Servt.
