From John Lathrop (unpublished)
Boston 30 August 1787
Doctor Lathrop presents his best respects to His Excellency Doctor Franklin, and request his acceptance of a Discourse before the humane Society in Boston.

Dr. Lathrop is encouraged by Mrs. Mecom, a near neighbour, a particular friend, and a worthy member of the Society of christians with which he is connected, then to make himself known to his Excellency. Dr. Lathrop is sensible the multiplicity of His Excellency’s engagements makes it inconvenient to increase the number of his correspondents: but as Mrs. Mecom has frequent Opportunities to Send to Philadelphia, and will be so kind as to inform Dr. Lathrop of them, he will beg leave to send to his Excellency such little productions of the press from time to time, as he thinks may afford any degree of entertainment.

Addressed: His Excellency / Benjamin Franklin Esqr L.L.D. / Philadelphia
