Francis M. Dana to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Paris March 28th. 1781.
Sir

Since my return to Town, I find there were 8 bundles of Spanish milled Dollars containing 50 each, in all 400. The plate I have taken to day, agrees with the Memorandum, so that there is nothing I believe missing, but the money. I hope every prudent measure will be taken without creating too sudden an alarm, to discover the Culprit.

From your humble Servant

FM Dana
