John Vaughan to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Pha. 6. Sep. 1783
Dear Franklin

I have only time to acquaint you that no letters for your or Mr. Jay were intrusted to my care of a later date than those sent; the Gentlemn. having chose to send them by a conveyance they thought more expeditious—Congress still remains at Prince town, but are heartily tired of it & I believe since the Assembly have so warmly supported their recommendations for a provision for the publick Debt, they have Recourse they might return without reflections being cast & I think they will, no Rate is to well calculated for them—The Door keeper says “we have not done as much business since we have been here as we did in one week in Philade.” All our friends well, our family expected daily My affe. respects to the Doctor— I remain yours

J Vaughan
