Rouen 14 of Mars 1785

I Received my Dr. Sir your very kind leter yesterday, but as it was not deated I cant say how long it may have been on the wrode. I Know can tell you that the Vessel Adventurer Captain Damon arrived in this port on Satterday Morning, & having had a leter from Mr. Moore of London in Desbr. last, of a Caise being on Board that Shipe, I waited on Jan Daveituïe to pray him give his orders to have the Caise brought to the Costom hous, which he did, otherwise it might have been detaind for several days.

mr. Guilbond my Pardner in the manufacture at st. sever, will bring the caise & Deliver it to Mr. Jefferson, As he has a leter he Received under my sous-Cover from Philadelphia, Directed for MM Jefferson & Mr. Baveley, consering some desagreeable Business, that conserns Mr. samuel Wharton & Our hous here, it is needles to Enter into any Detaile, as Mr. Guilbond will doe it, having Mr Whartons leters to justefy the transactions; but as Mr Baveley is not in Paris I must Interest you my Good friend to doe the Needfull for him, & youl very much oblige me.

My wife has been long Indisposed, and my Self with the gout, Wee air at Present, as spechally her got better; but for my hart, I am affraid the maney [?] boughts I have had, will worke me in my Old Eage, so must Submit myself & make the Most of Live Jean be so Good as to present Our Respects to your Dr. Uncle, & believe me my Dr Sir your fast frind & humble sevt
