To all Captains and Commanders of Vessels of War Privateers and Letters of Marque belonging to the United States of America.

It being represented to us that the.......... Bourden —— Tons, Commanded by ............, belonging to   (Subject of the said United States) fitted out by them from................. is bound for the United States of America.

We therefore the Commissioners Plenepotentiary from Congress at the Court of France hereby request that the said Vessel and Cargo may freely Pass, and Receive every Succour in Case of Necessity from all Vessels of whatever Denomination belonging to the United States. [Crossed out: We Likewise request that every friendly Aid may be given the said Vessel in the sale of her Cargo and in taking in her Returns from Europe.]

At Passy this    Day of October one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine.
