William Temple Franklin to Jonathan Williams, Jr. (unpublished)
Passy July 26 1781
Dear Jonathan,

I wrote you this morg. by Post, in ansr. to a Letter of yours to my Grandfather. The Bearer I introduce to your Civilities, not to your Purse; he is a Col. in the Service of our States, & has been of great Utility to us, in instructing our People in the Art of Casting great Guns—He does me the favour to take Charge of two Packets for you. One containing Papers you left here relative to our Finances, the other The two Seals I have had engraved for you.

You have heard of Mr. Robert Morris being appointed Super Intendant of Finances. I have no doubt but this nomination will be serviceable. Mr. Adams has been here, and is returned to Amsterdam—Nothing has transpired relative to his visit. He was often with Count de Vergennes: adieu
