To John Wilkes (unpublished)
Philada. Sept. 21. 1786
Dear Sir,

You have indeed given us very pleasing News, in acquainting us that Mrs. Hewson has taken her Passage with your good Mother and Sister in Captain Willet. I shall be extreamly happy to see them all, and we shall endeavour to make Philadelphia agreeable to Mrs. Wilkes and Fanny while they stay with us. I have not seen any of the Merchants concern’d in that Ship; but am inclin’d to think she will sail early in August, so as to be here in time for supplying the Country Storekeepers with Winter Goods, who come to town for those Supplies about the End of this Month. The Captain’s Wife, I hear, says she does not expect her Husband till then. My Grandson Temple is at his Farm in the Country. Present my Respects to your Father with my Love to your Brother, and accept the same yourself from, Your affectionate Friend
