Know all Men by these Presents that We Jonathan Williams of Boston Mercht.— J.C. Zollickoffer Mercht. of Baltimore & James Byrne Mariner of said Town in Maryland are held & firmly bound to the Honorable the President of the Congress of the United States of America, in the Sum of One Thousand Pounds Sterling to be paid to the said President of Congress or his certain Attorney, Executors, Administrators or Assigns, in trust for the use of the said United States; to which payment well & truly to be done, We do bind ourselves, our Heirs, Executors & Administrators jointly & severally, firmly by these presents Seald with our Seals, dated the 2d day of December in the Year of our Lord One Thousand seven Hundred & Eighty [illegible].

The Condition of this Obligation is such that if the above bounden James Byrne who is Commander of the Brigg called the Two Easters, (belonging to J.C. Zollickoffer) mounting Eight Carriage Guns, & navigated by forty Men, & who hath applied for a Commission & Letter of Marque & Reprisal, to Arm, Equip, & set forth to Sea the said Brigg as a Private Ship of War, & to make Captures of British Vessels & Cargoes, shall not exceed nor transgress the Powers & Authorities which shall be containd in the sd Commission, but shall in all things conduct himself, & Govern his Crew by & according to the same & certain Instructions therewith to be deliverd & such other Instructions as may hereafter be deliverd to him & shall make reparation for all damages sustaind by any Misconduct, or unwarrantable proceedings of himself, the Officers or Crew of the said Brigg, Then this Obligation shall be void or else remain in full force.
