From Benjamin Franklin Bache (unpublished)
Princeton Friday [1789?]

It proves, My dear Grand Papa impossible for me to return to day according to promise. The Trustees are not willing to give their promise to make use of the selection on acct. of the grammars which they please to think inferior to those they now make use of, however I am still kept with the expectation of obtaining a word of approbation from the faculty which obtaining to day will enable me to see you and all the family I hope well at Phila. to morrow. The Trustees have given their verbal promise to encourage the undertaking (the Gram. excepted) as long as the Faculty shall still continue to approve of it, but the Facy. are not willing to promise that their minds won’t change, The Stage setts off excuse the hurry of Your still dutiful G S.
