A friend of mine must have had latly the honour of writting to you that it may please you to grant me a post at the Service of your Country: to his demande, he joins a Short narration of my voyages whose have been so unhappy that four years and more of detention in England, as prisoner in the Last war, has been a favorable occasion for me to learn the English tong which have been very useful to me since; and I believe that if the Sollicitation of my friend Can have the Succes I expect, Surely the English tong shall be very advantageous to me in the desire I am to be useful to your Country; but, before departing of mine and the hopes I have to sail in a short time upon an est india man in the quality of Captain or Second for china, you’ll be as good as to allow me the same advantages as you do to authers.

I’ll have you all possible obligation, and be perswaded of the Respect which with I have the honour to be, Sir/ Your most humble and obedient Servant
