To Charles-Guillaume-Frédéric Dumas (unpublished)
Passy, July 5. 1785.
Dear Sir,

I receiv’d your kind Letter of the 12th of May. What you had heard of my having obtain’d Leave to return home is true, and I am now on the Point of departing for Philadelphia, where if I can be of any Use to you it will be a Pleasure to me; for I am extremely sensible of your long, faithful and important Services to the Cause of America, and that you have not hitherto been properly rewarded. With great Esteem, & best Wishes for your Health and Prosperity, I remain, My Dear Friend, Yours most affectionately

B Franklin

Mr Dumas.
