To his Excellency Benjamin Franklin Esquire President of the Supreme Executive Council of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania

The Petition of Gunning Bedford the elder of the City of Philadelphia on behalf of himself and others Creditors of Peter Bedford of the City aforesaid

Respectfully Sheweth

That Whereas the said Peter Bedford using and exercising the Trade of a Merchant by Way of bargaining, Exchange, Chevisance and Bartry by Retail, seeking his Trade and Living by buying and selling, upon just and good Causes being indebted to your Petitioner in the Sum of Two hundred Pounds and upwards, of late that is to say on or about the twenty fourth Day of this Instant (November) did become Bankrupt within the Meaning of the Act of Assembly lately made entitled “an Act for the Regulation of Bankruptcy” to the Intent to defraud and hinder your Petitioner and others his Creditors of their just Debts to them due and owing In Tender Consideration whereof May it please your Excellency to grant unto your Petitioner, a Commission under the great Seal of the Commonwealth, to be directed to such and so many wise honest and discreet Persons, as to your Excellency may seem meet; authorising them thereby not only concerning the said Bankrupt his Body, Lands and Tenements, Goods, Debts, and other Things whatsoever, but also concerning all other Persons who by Concealment, Claim or otherwise do or shall offend, touching the Premises, contrary to the true Intent of the said Act for the Regulation of Bankruptcy. To do and execute all and every the Thing and Things whatsoever as well for and towards Satisfaction and Payment of the said Creditors, as towards and for all other Intents and Purposes, according to the Ordinance and Provision of the said Act of Assembly for the Regulation of Bankruptcy. And your Petitioner shall ever pray &c

Gunning Bedford the elder of the City of Philadelphia Gentleman maketh Oath and saith that Peter Bedford of the City of Philadelphia Marchant is indebted to this Depenent in the Sum of Two hundred Pounds and upwards, and that the said Peter Bedford is become Bankrupt with the Act for the Regulation of Bankruptcy lately made and provided as this Depenent is informed and verily believes
