Jonathan Williams, Jr. to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Nantes Augt 31. 1780
Dear Billy,

The inclosed Bill belongs to Mr Johnson, it has passed through several Hands & nobody has ’till now observed that it is not signed by Mr Hopkinson, but as Smiths Signature is to it there is no doubt of its being genuine. Pray ask the Doctor if he can with propriety accept it, & when the Second third or fourth arrives they shall be given in to him. Mr Johnson will give what Guarantee may be required. We have heard of the great Capture by the Spaniards. I should have taken it kind if you had dropped me a line on this & other occasions of News.—

I am ever Yrs affecy
