From Elizabeth Oswald (unpublished)
Sunday Afternoon, Nov. 20. 1785.
Dear Sir,

I am one whom you used formerly to express a great fondness for, and who still retains a great respect for you. I want to ask a favor of you—you used to comply with my requests when I was a little Girl, but now I have not the same Hold on your Heart as formerly. Perhaps I may seem impertinent, if so I have no more to say. But I will just tell you what I would [be] at. I think we might make something by printing an Almanac—the time is near at hand, and Mr. Oswald is in New York: now we could print one without him, but cant think of a clever Name, and a pretty entertaining Preface is wanting. I know of no one so capable as yourself of doing things as they should be, therefore I have taken the Liberty of applying to you; if you are not displeased, be so good as to comply with the Request of her that was Betsey Holt, now

Elizabeth Oswald.
