Passy, June 23, 1778

These may certify, that William More of the State of N. Jersey in N. America, has this day taken the oath and subscribd the declaration of Allegiance to the United States of America. That he has receivd from us a Passport to go thro this kingdom in his way to the E. Indies, from whence his intentions are, as he says, to return with his property to the United States of America— That we believe his Declarations aforesaid to be true and sincere and accordingly request all Commanders of vessels of war, belonging to the United States of America or any of them and of Privateers of Letters of Marque and Reprisal, belonging to any Individual of any of the said United States, to permit him to pass to the said States with his Merchandize and effects, unmolested. Signd.
