John Ross to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
L Orient 15th May 1780
Dear Sir

I beg your reference to my last of the 10 Inst: This merely serve to hand 19 Bills received from America and now Sent for Acceptance, if they prove good, be pleased when Accepted to hand them to Mr Grand on my Accounts.

The first and Second of this bills being commited to Mr Scule, who embarked last year in the Confederacy for Europe, and died on the passage before the arrival of the Frigate at Martinies—it is necessary to examine carefully, whether any of the first or Second has appeared, and incase they are paid, or any part of them, please desire Mr Grand to examine the indorsements on those paid, that I may know who have received the money—Several Letters go forward today for your Grandfather, and hope good News will reach you soon from America—I have none worth communicating, only the great prospect, of Clinton’s force, not succeeding in the intended attack against Charles Town—Believe me Sincerely Dear Sir Your friend &c

Jno. Ross
