From Benjamin Franklin: Certificate for Chief Scotosh (unpublished)
[7th of July 1786.]

I do hereby certify whom it may concern, that among the Papers put into my hands by the Indian Chief Scotosh, and return’d again to him after Perusal, there was a Certificate from a Person of the Name of Stokely, relating that when in the Indian Country his life had been saved by the said Chief, who had always been friendly to the American white People. That Paper being since accidentally lost, is the Reason of his desiring this Certificate from me; Given at Philadelphia, the 7th of July 1786.
