Dear Sir,

I received the Letter you did me the Honour of writing to me by Mr. Dejean. He landed in New England, and has never been here. At his Request I gave him a Recommendatory Letter to Governor Bowdoin, but not having lately heard of him, I imagine he may be gone home to Detroit.

I was in hopes that you would before this time have returned to America, and that I might have the Pleasure of seeing you here.
