Benjamin Vaughan to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Jeffries Square, Sept. 6th:, 1784.
My dear sir,

On Monday next, After returning from Totteridge, we will dine at the George & Vulture, and then set off for Mr. Herschall’s, where a friend of mine will conduct us. We will fix upon some place for taking of your father, on Saturday morning, when I shall hope for your company & his, to see the drawings of Mr. Hodges, for which purpose you will be so kind, both of you, as to meet me at that gentleman’s house in Chapel Street, Curzon Street, May Fair. It is the Chapel Street next the Chapel, on the left hand of the Chapel as you look fronting it; & the corner house, looking into Curzon Street; the door newly painted, of a mahogany color.

Mr. Swinburne will accompany us to Mr. Townley’s & the Duke of Northumberlands. I will provide for the Queen’s house.

Inclosed I send you Lord Shelburne’s invitation to you.

Call upon me when you come into the city.

You will please not to mention it, but I will contrive to get you a sight of the several rods used in the late measurement on Honslow Heath. Ever Yours affecty.

Benjn. Vaughan
