Jonathan Loring Austin to William Temple Franklin (unpublished)
Nantes 11th Nov. 1780
Dear sir,

Mr. Sweighauser informs me no Arms or warlike Stores can be sent out of the Kingdom without a permit, and has just asked me whether Mr. Williams is furnished with one. As I cannot resolve whether he is or not, he being at Paimbeuf I beg leave to request a permit for shipping the goods on Board the Mars, if a general one is not already furnished, and pray it may be sent by return of Post to prevent detaining the Vessel.

I am with Esteem, Dear Sir, your very humble Servant

Jon. Loring. Austin

p.s. My respects to his Excellency and I hope to hear he is free from the gout please to inform him the Vessel will be ready to sail in about ten or twelve days.
