From Joseph Elam (unpublished)
8th Novr 1788

As I understand thou has Chosen a private Station I hope thou will take a little time to attend to my Complaint on which Account have herein inclosed thee Copy of a letter I wrote Governor Randolph, And request thou will be pleased to send for my Accusers and me to meet thee together in a day or two, and if they will not agree to such terms as thou may think reasonable assist me in prefering my Case to the assembly of this State now Sitting who are materially interested therein, in order that I may quietly enjoy the Liberty of a Freeholder and Citizen which I am daily prevented from, I hope thou will not think me unreasonable as my present Lameness appears to me to have been Occasioned by thy letter of 12th May last to Governor Randolph Who am thy Suffering Friend
