Possibly Johann Friedrich Stürler, Baron vom Altenburg (1742-1813), a scion of a prominent Bernese family and a protégé of French naval minister Sartine. Baron vom Altenburg enthusiastically supported the American and French Revolutions, was employed on a special mission in Holland (1779), and was an agent for the French representative in Bern in the 1790s.
