Became a Moravian at Oxford. Immigrated to Pennsylvania with a group of Welsh and German Moravians (1742). Ordained deacon (1755), minister (before 1763). Preached in Delaware, New Jersey, and New York. First Moravian minister on Staten Island (1763-84).
Son of Rev. William and Elizabeth Gambold of Puncheston, Wales. Brother of Moravian bishop John Gambold of Wales, who joined the Moravians under Hector’s influence. Married Helen Craig. Died at Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
