Ingersoll, Jared (1722-1781)

Lawyer and Connecticut official; Loyalist.

Agent for Connecticut in London (1758-61, 1764-65), where he met and befriended Franklin.

Moved from New Haven to Philadelphia (1771). Judge in the British court of vice- admiralty until he was forced to return to Connecticut because of his loyalist views (1777).

Born in Milford, Connecticut. Married in 1743 to Hannah Whiting, one son. Married in 1780 to Hannah Miles Alling.
