Tucker, Josiah (1712-1799)

Economist, clergyman, and writer of political pamphlets.

Dean of Gloucester from 1758 until his death. His political views differed sharply from those of Franklin, who wrote scathing marginal notes in his copy of one of Tucker’s pamphlets.

Born in Laugharne, Wales. Married to Mrs. Woodward. Married in 1781 to Mrs. Crowe.
