Prisoner.
A former captain in the Champagne regiment. Brought Pulaski in touch with Silas Deane (1776). Deane sent him to America with letters for Franklin and Washington, but he was captured before he could deliver them.
Sent to Portsmouth where he was imprisoned aboard the Princesse Amelie. Following his release, he sent Congress an account of his services and a request for a colonelcy (May 1778). Awarded the Cross of St. Louis.
